INTEGRATED TECHNOLOGY - PET/CT - Now at Cooper Clinic

PET/CT imaging is now available at Cooper Clinic, P.A.  This is great news in the fight against cancer. The system integrates advanced Positron Emission Tomography (PET) with high definition Computed Tomography (CT). The resulting images provide anatomic and metabolic information – in one combined exam. 

PET creates images of body tissue with high metabolic activity. These are typically cancer cells. CT scans show anatomical structures within the body. Together as one exam, a PET/CT scan allows viewing of metabolic activity and pinpoints where abnormal lesions are located. Essentially, this targets the doctor’s view of disease.  Patients will benefit from possible reduction of invasive procedures, and less examination time.

At Cooper Clinic, PET/CT is performed by a registered, specially trained technologist and results are read by board-certified radiologists.

This is the only permanently installed PET/CT in the area and the only one available for service five days per week.  It is housed in a customized suite in Cooper Clinic’s radiology department at the main facility, 6801 Rogers Avenue. 

When medically indicated, this procedure is generally covered by commercial insurance and Medicare.
